"Without Holding Anything, I'm Very Much in My Head": George's Focus Reset
A busy life doesn't always look busy from the outside. Between travel, rehearsals, shoots and performances, there's a constant stream of things to prepare for, remember and recover from. Even in the quiet moments, the mind keeps running.
That's where George was when he joined our early testers.
Meet George
George is a dancer, performer and model, and he travels often. His work asks a lot of both his body and his mind, and right now he has plenty going on. Finding a moment to switch off isn't the problem. Actually switching off is.
The Session: Focus Reset
George chose the Focus Reset protocol in the PuffZenDen app, a short 2 minute 30 second box breathing session:
- Inhale for 4 seconds
- Hold for 4 seconds
- Exhale for 4 seconds
- Hold for 4 seconds
He did it once without anything in his hands, then again holding two Oceanbums, one in each hand, squeezing on the inhale and letting go as he breathed out.
What He Noticed
Here's how George described the difference:
"It feels very different doing the tactile-led breathing. I think I felt more relaxed. Without holding anything during a breathing exercise, I'm very much in my head. Tactile-led breathing took my mind off my thoughts, for sure. I also like the sensory element of it. The expansion of the toy as you exhale connects with the breath, which gives a full-body relaxation."

Three things stand out.
He got out of his head.
This is one of the most common things we hear. A standard breathing exercise asks you to sit with your thoughts and somehow quiet them. For a busy mind, that often means the thoughts just get louder. With an Oceanbum in each hand, George's attention had somewhere else to go: into his hands and body, and away from the mental noise.
The sensory element made it enjoyable.
George liked how it felt. That matters more than it sounds. When a calming practice is pleasant, you're far more likely to come back to it. The soft squeeze and slow release turn a breathing exercise from a discipline into a small moment of comfort.
Breath and body connected.
As George breathed out, he felt the Oceanbums expand back into shape in both hands. That physical echo of the exhale linked his breath to what his body was feeling, and the result, in his words, was full-body relaxation rather than relaxation that stayed in the lungs.
Why Movers and Performers Connect with Tactile-Led Breathing
Dancers and performers already understand the body as a way in. They learn through movement, feel rhythm physically and trust sensation. For people like George, a purely mental breathing exercise can feel strangely abstract.
Tactile-led breathing speaks the body's language. Touch gives the nervous system steady, physical feedback, so calm isn't something you have to think your way into. You feel your way there.
It's not magic, and it's not a cure. It's a simple, sensory way to give a busy mind a real break.
Calm That Travels
For anyone who's often on the move, two and a half minutes is easy to find: in a hotel room, backstage, before a shoot, or on a train between cities. Oceanbums are soft and portable, so your reset can come with you wherever the day takes you.
One in each hand
Why Two Hands?
George held an Oceanbum in each hand, and like many of our testers, he found it made the experience feel more complete. Squeezing and releasing with both hands creates a balanced, symmetrical rhythm that draws your whole body into the breath. It's why we created the Oceanbum Two-Hand Set: two Oceanbums plus PuffZenDen app access, made for sessions just like this.
Your turn
Try It Yourself
If you're always busy, often in your head, and struggle to switch off even when you finally stop, try the Focus Reset with an Oceanbum in each hand.
No streaks. No scores. No pressure. Just breathe, squeeze, unwind.
